Organic Asafoetida

Asafoetida (Ferula assa-foetida) is an Indian spice used for flavouring the food and in herbal medicines for treatment of digestive and mental ailments. It has a pungent odour owing to its sulphur content but it gives out a tingling aroma when used in cooking. Also known as Hing in Hindi, it is an essential condiment in Indian vegetarian cooking. A freshly exposed asafoetida surface has a transparent pearly white appearance, but it soon darkens in the sun, first becoming pink and eventually reddish brown
