Organic Barley

Organic Barley (Hordeum vulgare) is an organic cereal that is considered as an ancient grain. Originating in Ethiopia and south East Asia, it is also called as Jau in Hindi. The grain has a chewy texture and a nutty taste. It is used to make cereals and as a substitute to rice. It is known as the king of cereals and is used in soups, salads, stews, and curries for a rich flavour. Barley water, beer, malt extract and other alcoholic drinks are made from barley. It is harvested from March to May.
