Organic Bengal Gram Flour Besan (Cicer arietinum) is a great gluten-free substitute for wheat or all-purpose flour in many recipes. It is a flour used to thicken sauces or curries and is called Bengal gram flour in English. A staple diet in the cuisine from the Indian subcontinent, Besan’s raw variety is slightly bitter, while the roasted variety is more flavourful. It is normally harvested from March – April. Our organic flour has a coarse texture made from the finest quality of certified grams and is stone ground to keep its nutritional value intact.
