An important crop in the semi-arid regions across Africa and Asia, Organic Cowpea – White (Vigna unguiculata) is a small bean with a little oval structure and a black eye in the middle. Organic Cowpea beans are a rich source of proteins, calories, minerals and vitamins. They are normally harvested from May to September and are usually cooked by boiling. Also known as Safed Chawla in Hindi and Lobia, the white Cowpea beans are most commonly used in curries. They are one of the most widely grown annual crops in India and have a rich flavour.
