Organic Maize

Organic Maize (Zea mays) is also called corn. Maize is grown throughout the year in India. It is predominantly a kharif crop with 85 percent of the area under cultivation in the season. Corn is harvested from September to October. The maize is cultivated throughout the year in all states of the country for various purposes including grain, fodder, green cobs, sweet corn, baby corn, pop corn in peri-urban areas. When ground into flour, maize yields more flour with much less bran than wheat does. The developed maize products have been observed to offer acceptable sensory scores and improved nutritional profile to the consumers in terms of its protein, fiber, fat and mineral content.
