Organic Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum) is gluten free and therefore, a great choice for celiac and gluten intolerant people. It is known as Bajra in Hindi and as Spiked Millet in English. These brown grains incorporate a nutty and bittersweet after taste. It contains high amounts of protein, fibre, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. Pearl Millet is harvested from September to October. Having its texture similar to brown rice, it can be cooked like rice. It is also used in the preparation of flat breads. India is the largest producer of pearl millet.
