Red lentil originates in India, and is also commonly found in countries in South Asia. One of the most commonly consumed staple foods in the Indian cuisine, Organic Red Lentil Split – Masoor Dal (Lens Esculenta) is a very rich source of protein, vitamin B1 and folic acid. It is harvested normally from June to October and is also a big part of the vegetarian diet in India. In other parts of the world, the lentil is dubbed as the “Misr” lentil.
