Organic Indian Ginseng / Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has always been revered in Ayurveda and other traditional medicine practices. Most of the benefits from ashwagandha are from the root and the leaves. The leaves are most commonly used in teas. The root can be consumed in many ways but it’s most commonly dried, powdered and used as a supplement these days. The best time for harvesting is between June to November and it is also known as Winter Cherry. The root has a strong aroma that is described as “horse-like.”
